Sri Lanka’s state minister of defense, Mr. Ruwan Wijewardene told parliament the early findings of the ongoing probe found that the suicide bombings were committed in revenge for the Christchurch shootings at two mosques, allegedly carried out by accused Australian gunman Brenton Tarrant.
The death toll from the Sri Lanka terror attacks on churches and luxury hotels has risen to 321, with 500 injured. Islamic State is believed to be behind a video claiming responsibility for the deadly massacre.

Sri Lanka’s security forces were warned at least 10 days before the bombings that the militant group was planning attacks against churches, but apparently took no action against it, indicating a catastrophic intelligence failure.

The Sri Lankan police have arrested 24 people in connection with the explosions at hotels and churches. One of the suicide bombers had been arrested just a few months ago, suspected of having vandalized a statue of Buddha.
Sheikh Selim's son-in-law was also injured in the blast and later admitted to a local hospital, according to Imrul.

The body of Awami League Presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim’s grandson, Zayan Chowdhury, who was killed in a bomb attack in Sri Lanka on Sunday, is likely to arrive in Bangladesh around 11 am tomorrow, Sheikh Selim’s Personal Assistant Imrul Haque confirmed. Awami League acting general secretary Mahabubul Alam Hanif said the eight-year-old would be buried at Banani graveyard later in the day.
